Default Alternative for one sided adhesive foam?

I am making a beach bag and it calls for adhesive foam between the lining and bag. I have never used it before and it seems quite pricey. I was wondering about using 1 or 2 layers of warm & natural and spray baste it instead. The front and back are quilted to the lining.
I realize it probably will not be as firm but because it is intended for a tote/beach bag if the batting would be a reasonable and less expensive alternative? Thanks

Thanks Cari. Kind of thought that might be the case. Think I will just go to Walmart and try Pellon foam!

You can also use car liner foam if you have a source for it. We have a Mill End Fabrics here and they sell this.

I was also going to suggest this, it's also known as headliner, because it's the fabric they put above your head in cars. I've found it at Joann's.

The batting will hold the water more than the foam stuff (this is a beach bag?) Wet suits etc, the foam may be the better way to go.

I use car liner foam I buy from fleabay. It isn’t quite as firm as bosal but at less than half the price it is worth it to me. The difference in firmness is minimal

Thank you all for such informative answers. I never heard of car foam and I was also concerned about the water issue!

Have you tried to search car headliner foam? That is what I did and found some sites. Good luck!

I recently made a bag that used this foam-almost dropped the class because of the price-but sucked it up and bought it. It was so nice to work with and really made the bag look exceptional. It may not matter for what you are making, but for a professional looking end product-well worth it!
