I do mine this way also... works great...

Love the "quilt inspector". Was he holding the blocks in place for you?

What you might do is mark your seam allowance using a 1"x12" ruler and this will make sure you have your 1/4" seam allowance to the edge. Sometime what looks like 1/4" isn't.

Oh gosh, I love it! I am not the only one who has a helper that has to get into the middle of whatever I am doing. I have to be careful that she doesn't try to catch the needle on my sewing machine. lol He is beautiful.

It may sound silly, but I use the same sewing machine and the same ruler throughout the entire quilt. If you are sewing more than one item, just make a light pencil mark or tape your settings...or write them down depending on your machine. I also pin on the points and sew on the side that shows the point intersections.

Lots of good pointers (no pun intended) here! I also struggled with this, but finally changed the quarter inch foot I was using. I'm not sure all quarter inch feet are a true quarter inch. I now use a quarter inch foot that has the little metal guide on the side that you let the material rest against. I get more accurate quarter inch seams and my points survive! Love your quilt inspector!

I adjust the seam when it comes to the point. Sometimes it's a little bigger than 1/4" and sometimes it's a little less. I also go quite slow because there is generally a larger bump where the pieces come together and everything is pinned. The better the prep work is the better the blocks (points) will be.

Have you measured your pieces to see if you have a 1/4" to work with? A little analysis surely explains your issue and offers a solution.
