I must be a little cuckoo too. And it's not just quilts, but everything I make. Sort of like I'm giving a part of myself away. I don't feel so possessive if the quilt is going to a good home.

I just opened up a hope chest full of quilts I'd made and felt selfish - I need to start giving them away. My only concern when I give something away is if they will like it. When I see the smile I know all is well. Don't know what I'd do if someone didn't like one I gave them. My son and his wife want none of my quilts - they like plain - I told them to go to Macy's.

I feel the same way every time I finish a quilt! I take lots of pictures with camera and phone, place at least one pic on my desktop, especially when the quilt has been made for someone else.

Sewelle has a wonderful idea! Maybe make it into a doll size quilt that you keep at your house so when baby comes to play or spend the night it is always there!!
ps: This is normal behavior, not to worry!

I think we all suffer from separation anxiety. As several others have mentioned, you are in a great position to document your quilting journey. I wish I had started when I made my first quilt forty-six years ago.

Not cuckoo, a totally normal quilter!!! Please post a picture here of your quilt and new grand! I know how it is sometimes hard to give away our quilts...I just gave my daughter her wedding quilt that I spent a year piecing and another year quilting...it was hard to let it go. If you are interested in seeing a picture of it, you can find it here: http://farmquilter.blogspot.com/

Please start to take and keep a picture of each quilt. Plus put a label on all future quilts.

Congratulations on your first grand daughter. Make another baby quilt quick and either give that or put it in same place.
I know exactly how you feel. I buy fabric because I enjoy them and when they make a quilt I can't give them away they become my family, am I cuckoo?
