Am I the only one?

Big time loner here I work 6-12 hour night shift in a row in a busy ER . I deal with some of the nastiest most attention seeking people around and see them at their worst, so I am fine with my own company on my days off . I do love going to a quilt show a few times a year with a former co-worker who quilts but am also fine going alone if she can't go. I would love to join a guild to be around once a month or so but I do not know of any around except two and when I inquired about coming to a meeting at one of them they were not too thrilled it seemed to have newbies , And that is fine because this board is my guild ! I love to talk about sewing with others and this is the happening place !
(I must also say that I went to a quilt show in hillsboro Oh a couple of years ago and the ladies that put on that show were very nice and welcoming ,I thought about going to that one but lost the information on meeting times. I know that some are members here and I didn't want them to think I was speaking about them )

I am both intra and extra - love my own time, but need people too. Just not all the time. I can relish having a day to my self - to do what I want to do. But I love meeting people and joining clubs and having friends, I just don't need that daily.

I belong to 3 guilds. They all have some kind of program at the meetings. New quilt shop, new gadgets, new technique, or trunk showing etc. as an example. They may have a retreat, a class, or a small group another day, which can be fun, but I do my best sewing by myself after I learn the technique. Too many people in a room or rooms I can get lost in the pattern, and make more mistakes than I normally do. LOL

I am also a lone quilter. I have been invited to join a guild, but haven't. I enjoy my quiet time in my sewing room. I have my TV on, for background noise more than anything. I come out to cook meals, but LEAVE ME ALONE the rest of the time. I work during the week as a law enforcement dispatcher and hear complaints all during the week, so I love my alone time Friday night and all day Saturday. Sunday I am with the family. Very relaxing for me.

Yup! Here's another one! I quilt a lot with my DDIL & she is constantly trying to make me do something different than what I want. A little of that goes a long way cause this hobby is supposed to be FUN fun fun! I'd really rather do it alone!
