If you don't do anything over your head you'll never develop new skills. I think it's adorable. Love how each piece has a complete face. You're doing a good job. Take your time and enjoy.
If you get to the point it's more annoying the fun, then you may want to put it aside for awhile. It is a pretty challenging block. Or maybe if you don't have all the blocks cut out, make a cute little sampler quilt. But that's only if you get annoyed, so far it's seems like you are enjoying the process.

I think the block lots fantastic! Better than what mine would look like being that detailed, trust me I'm having serious issues with my 1/4" this week not something you want to do on the Blooming Nine patch. Spent more time today with the seam ripper than I did anything. Your's looks great to me, would love to see the finished piece I hope you post photos for us

Your doing a great job, the fabric is adorable, the block will be darling, and you are learing something new and pushing youself out of your comfort zone which is great, keep going you will be amazed and feel more confident in your quilting and abhbilities when your done and look back to where you were before doing this.
