I like it, a chance to do handwork and knowing that it is almost done.

I like to do binding, too. I can take my otherwise finished projects to our guild's workshops and hand-stitich the binding while I visit. I discovered that if I take my sewing machine and try to do some real piecing, I end up doing more talking than sewing (and also make lots of mistakes).

Before Igot the hang of it I was a little intimidated by it - but now I really love it! Nothing like a perfectly mitered corner!!!

You know what's weird, I don't mind doing the binding; I do it by machine as my hand work/controll is fair at best. My MS took away my strength and controll, and I don't want the quilt police busting down my door for ugly stitches. What I don't like is making the strip to do the binding. Once it is made I will have an UFO no longer.

The binding is my favorite part. It is so relaxing - and it means the quilt is almost finished!!

I also like doing the binding. I sew it on by machine, but then stitch it down by hand on the back. Of course I like to hand quilt also. It's like...it's finished !!

It wasn't until I took my first quilt off a quilting rack that I understood how, uneven and troublsome sides of quilts are to bind. In the scores of years I've quilted I've only worked by hand, and I haven't had to think good or ill about binding. I don't shrink from the chore, and I'am always happy a project is finished.
