I'm from Hawaii and we love our Aloha Shirts...but those prints can be pretty wild sometimes. Most of the shirts that the local guys wear are made from material that is sewn wrong side up. gives it a nice muted look. :D

I've done that before---sometimes the "wrong"side really IS the right side!

I am using the backside of a white tone on tone right now in a little mini that I am handpiecing.

Also, I have often used the back as well as the front of a given fabric, if I like the effect of the (usually) duller backside, or if I need some kind of contrast that I don't have in some other fabric.

Incidentally, Kaffe Fassett said on an episode of Simply Quilts (so how long ago does That make it!) that he also does that whenever he wants to.

Yes, you can use the back for the front! No right or wrong way here! Just have fun!

It's your quilt! Use whichever side you prefer.

Nah, I have used the back side of fabric when I like it better. Sometimes the back if prettier than the front. It is still the same fabric, so use it however you want to. No one will know but you and it's your quilt, quilt as you want to.
