    Your avatar is beautiful!

Depends on the standards of the community. The Amish organise in communities of 20-40 families under a bishop and elders, who set the Ordnung (rules) for the community. While the Ordnung has some basic similarities, the details can and do vary from community to community.

Even the Old Order Amish vary in the strictness of their Ordnung (for instance, in some Old Order communities it is okay to have electricity in the barn but not in the house).

It may also depend on whether the quilt was produced for an Amish family or for sale to the tourist trade. Many of the Amish are very pragmatic and canny about producing products that appeal to the most people.

National Geographic had an article about Amish quilting. Some communities stitch the tops and ship them - by the container full - overseas to be hand quilted. They ship them to Southeast Asia. And when the quilts come back, they are hand-quilted.
Everyone has to make a living, somehow.
