When they were first on the market way too many said it was useless, silly, not worth the cost, and so forth. Many posters here had about the same thoughts about it. And most never used one! Well you know if you read a bad review about something it puts you off trying. The product didn't sell at shops because most had no idea how to use it to demo it. I knew as soon as I saw it what a time and hassle saver it would be. It took me a few times to get the hang of it but once learned it became easy with perfect binding for a result.

My friend has the electric one - she said she had it for years. She used to make a lot of clothes and that is why she bought it. We were making a sleeve to hold sewing items and a pin cushion on top - it had curved edges so we wanted the bias binding so she brought it out and it was so quick and easy. Didn't realize they weren't made anymore.

I have one, it gathers dust more than anything. It is a nice toy to have.

I know one Etsy seller that uses one to make binding to sell. You order the length, choose the fabric and she makes it. Double fold straight or bias.

What was the original cost of these......it's amazing what some of the prices/bids on eBay/Amazon are.

Now you have me wondering if I need this. Anyone have a picture? I have a binder that I rarely use because I don't have binding for it, and it's a pain to make. Is this something that will make binding for quilts? And will it make 1.5 inches?

I just saw this. It's not what I thought. I need the binding open, not folded. The binder will fold it as it attaches it.

I have had one for years, gift from DH when they first came out. I added extra tips as I could. Love it!. My DD borrows it to make bindings for her quilts too.
