Well the closest store to me that has fabric 20 miles had a 50% off sign yesterday and they are closing. I asked why and the sales girl said she had no idea. It is a Ben Franklin store. They had a lot of flat fold brand names like thimbleberry. They did have lousy service no one wanted to cut fabric. I will keep watching this sale but for some reason yesterday I was just not in the mood! (must be sick) LOL I di d buy some templates a pack of 12, 9 and 6 inch for $15.00

Ben Franklin stores are franchised so maybe the owners couldn't make it work. I loved their fabric when we had one around here. It closed years ago. What a shame it is closing.

I live out west and both Ben Frank and Woolworth closed many yrs ago.
They were both dime store chains.
I miss dime stores but now we at least have dollar stores but they dont have the variety.
There are lots of quilt shops and Joanns here in Phx. AZ so no problem getting what you need.
I do shop online more than at shops now. It is cheaper.

Oh, so sad. How far will you have to go for fabric now?

Now is the time to watch online shops for great deals and stock up. I got 100 fat quarters for $99 with free shipping at Keepsakes today. All quilt shop quality and fabric from this last year's designer lines. Connecting Threads had 40% off good batting last week.

There is a Ben Franklin store here in the Reno/Sparks area. It is right next to the Hancock Fabrics store. I haven't been there in a couple weeks, so I have no idea if they are closing their doors or not. I personally think they were kind of overpriced for the things they sell compaired to the Michael's craft store of the other end of town.

It is a shame to have the only fabric store close near you. I guess you will have to buy on line more ... Huh? I sure hope the economy picks up soon. I hate seeing so many businesses go down that I like.

Pretty much all I have here is Ben Franklin.
There are 2 other places, but 1 had all dress fabric,,,,you know, that frilly stuff and shiney polyester. The other has mostly Hawaiian prints.
