    Default Another home made alternative

Our Homemaker's group is making Sock Monkeys for our community project. Another group is making crochet hats for the children who get the monkeys.

Many of the ladies were having a hard time turning the monkeys right side out.

I found 1/2 inch round PVC pipes (used for water) and DH cut them to about 7 inches long on the radial arm saw.

That piece of pipe and a chop stick or a pencil made a great turner - I got 17 turners for $5.

The Ladies are going to love them!

Fabulous and inexpensive solution. I volunteer at the hospital making "critters" and these would be great for turning those too. Thanks.

I have one that I bought years ago that was on that line. Has a couple different size tubes. It works great. I never thought about making them myself. I love your idea. Really saves money also. I think I paid maybe $8 or $10 for mine back then but it was worth it to me. You are very creative & thank you for sharing!

I used to make hundreds of "cool ties" for soldiers. They are a tube WOF long. DH made me similar tubes that were great to turn them with. We used a small piece of wooden dowel as a "pusher". Magic!

I purchased a set recently. Love your home made version! I will definitely keep it in mind if the ones I bought aren't the right size for my next sock monkey (or any other project). I want to make a couple sock monkeys for new DGDs before too long. Thanks for sharing!
