Default Another Silk Tie Pillow Question

Hi...I posted a question regarding silk ties a couple of months ago and I received very nice ideas from you wonderful people. A neighbor lost her husband wanted me to make a pillow for herself, her daughter and her son. She just handed me the ties. Wondering, can I mix silk with cotton? I already let her know that whatever I make will need to be dry cleaned. I plan on using light stabilizer as a few have mentioned. I would like to make the bow tie pattern but realized I would need a light or dark contrasting fabric and don't have plain fabric among the ties she gave me.

She did give me enough for a small quilt but I am not that experienced yet (I don't think) to tackle that.

    Thank you!

When I made a pillow with ties I did a fan, it came out very nice but I did use a piece of silk fabric for the background.
