I went in to my stash today to find fabric to make quilt and found that I did not have enough of any floral print to make the pattern. What a bummer. Of course I do not remember where I bought the fabric to even see if they have more. I have now decided to mark the shop and date on the fabric of when it was bought so I can check to see if they have any more (if it has not been too long a time since buying). This is one reason that I try to buy fabric for pattern and not to add to stash since I do not know how much to buy. This pattern needed 4 yards and I only had 2.5.

Can you post a picture of the fabric? I have lots of floral fabrics that I've been collecting for a long time, so it's possible I have what you are looking for. :)

Along the selvedge there is sometimes printed the company and the name of the pattern or collection. You can do a fabric search here: http://www.quiltshops.com/search.htm

You can also search by print trpe, boots, bugs, coffee etc.

Same here. If I like it, I will usually buy whatever is on the bolt. If it is on sale for a good price. I will use it eventually, somewhere, or trade it off. I do alot of charity quilts! Mostly more than 5 yard increments and put back on the bolt for my storage.

Thanks for the idea. I searched but could not find any of what I have but I found a nice on -line shop that is really close to me so of course I will have to check it out.

Also I have another idea - I am going to mark each fabric where the fabric is to be used in the pattern. I often get home and forget which part the fabric is to be used for. Dah!!!!!!!!!!!
