Perfect solution is right! But, have to admit, it fell into my lap, so to speak. Every time I wrote a check for my co-pay, there it sat, right in front of me!

Isn't there a saying about "don't covet Thy neighbors' whatever"?? (forgive me, I have terrible memory for quotes and verses) Well, I coveted that cabinet big time!

    This is just terrific!

What I especially like are the vertical dividers (originally meant to hold the file folders in place) that are perfect for separating your color stacks. I'll have to remember this solution if ever I get a larger room.

As for folding your fabric -- I found it saves a LOT of space to fold larger pieces (>1 yd) all the same way. (I tend to fold and store 1/2-yd pieces as if they were FQs.) I can then stack them on a deeper shelf or lay them sideways in plastic bins -- whatever works for the space I have available. I've also gotten religious about folding my FQs all the same way.

    Congratulations again. :D

After moving into the apt. I was definitely short on storage space (still am). My DH suggested that a filing cabinet might help with the fabrics. Okay, sure. He spotted one at a yard sale a short time after & got it for 2.50. It was 4 drawers & in good shape. I stand the folded pieces and layer them upright as folders would be. Works great, can see the material without digging & keeps it dust free. Didn't solve all of my problems, but it helped. Still need to use 5 big dresser drawers.
