I agonize over questions like this because I worry about following the rules. I would be beyond embarrased if I entered something incorrectly and got called out on it. I'm not entering this show but it helps to understand rules for different shows as I'm sure some will apply to shows I enter in the future.

How do you know your design is original? There are thousands of patterns out there and you would not know if yours had already been done.

Well, I've never seen a watercolor floral log cabin with different width strips in the design I did. Does that count?

yes. i stand by my statement that the watercolor lc is original. i've never seen anything like it, except for the ones that others here have copied, so that's a compliment to the creator. the other lc is also original for the layout. and even though the kayak has been done before, the graduating lake colors makes it very unusual. the kayak pattern is a traditional pattern so of course it's not original to anyone. what matters is what you do with it. if you don't win a ribbon, we're putting out a hit on those judges.

I do appreciate the support--but that won't be necessary. I've always been a good loser.

All the replies on the picture post make me feel like a winner before the show even starts!! :-D
