Antique fabric what should I do ?

I agree that you should consult with someone. I think when they date quilts they date them by the newest fabric identified. If that's true, you may not want to add new fabrics when making a quilt, but just use this fabric to keep the quilt in the same era.

I am in the same boat, I have several pices of vintage fabric. Some of it I have 3 yard cuts of. Out of curiousity, I listed one on ebay and got $405. for the two yard cut. I also listed several other of my vintage cuts from the same era and got bids only up to $10, but had reserves on them. I don't think that piece was worth that much, it was kind of a really weird situation, but they did pay the $405 and all was well.

The fabrics are certainly not being enjoyed stuck in a box. If the structure is still good, I would sew them up. Hand wash a few, let them dry and pull them to make sure they don't have dry rot. I wouldn't want to piece a large project to only have it disintegrate. If they are not sew worthy, you could always decopage (sp) them to cover your sewing room counter top?

I asked the only two bidders what was so special about the fabric and never really got an answer. Just that it was exactly what they were looking for. What was really odd about it was the fact that I said US only and they were both from Japan. They both said they had family in the US for shipping it. they both said almost the identical (a few different words here and there) things when I would ask them a question. I thought for sure it was a hoax, but they bid it up and up.
I was taking the computer into my sewing group and they were watching it too, noone understood it. I offered similar fabric (same era, similar types of print) to both bidders afterwards and they said they weren't interested.
The 2 yard cut that I sold I bought at a thrift shop for $2!
I still think it is odd the way it went, but payment was made within 10 minutes of end of auction and I let it sit there till she rec'd the fabric and was happy with it.
