I was just given 4 large boxes of fabric. It was like Christmas! My DH wanted to throw it all away saying this isn't your type of fabric. In the largest box was fashion fabric and home dec. I can use them to make pillow tops. Some good some not then the next smaller box had six shoe boxes filled with cut antique fabric into tumbler blocks and the cardboard pattern. I was so excited to find all the boxes filled with cut fabric and cardboard patterns. One inch squares and 2 inch squares, 5 shoe boxes full and spilled out into the big box. Should I sew into tops ? I haven't any idea if that would destroy the history or value. I don't care about the value I wouldn't sell the tops. But any ideas?

Is the fabric still sturdy? What period is it? I've made small projects for gifts, things like wallhangings or framed minatures from found projects.

And I offer a thanks and blessing to the unknown quilter for leaving a legacy for me to find.

WOW, I'd be sewing. Tumbler Block quilts are still popular, and made with antique fabrics, that would be beautiful.

I agree. You might want to consult with someone in your area who repairs old quilts. She might be able to tell you how old the fabric is and the best way to use it.

I'd try some out and tug on it to see if it is affected. You never know where it was stored over the years. I love finding old fabrics that are ready to use for projects. Good luck and show us what you make please.
