What a beautiful 'find'. I also think from the 30's. I have a butterfly quilt w/BF's exactly like those I bought in an yard sale that is from the 30's. It has yellow sashing between the blocks & REALLY heavy batting. Whoever made it, made it for warmth - but is still pretty.
Looking forward to see pics of the finished product.

I have some fabric scraps from the 30's and 40's that I got from my grandmother years ago. It is not enough to make a quilt but I have some more fabric from my mother from the 50s and thought it be nice to sew a quilt with both fabrics in rememberance of both of them.

My mother made a quilt like this in the 50's-60's, but hard telling how long she'd had the fabric or kit or whatever she had to make this quilt - and yes, it was beautiful when it was done - she hand appliqued all the butterflies onto the blocks and then sewing with the machine - but the quilt top together; but she always tied her quilts - using nice pretty color yarns; the little "tails" she left with the ties, looked like baby butterflies to me when I saw the quilt - so pretty, and inviting; but being white background became a Sunday only quilt on the bed and no one ever laid on it to get it dirty... not sure what happened to it as years went on - wish I knew!
