    PaperPrincess has the right idea. It is possible and not that difficult. GlassQuilts method would work too, but it would be trickier to sew on.

    Don't see why you couldn't but I would make one row of 2 instead of two rows of one. It won't be as easy as a straight edge but is as doable as the corners of a lone star quilt.

    OR you could rip a few stitches on the horizontal seams add your extra blocks then sew to combine as if you had run out of thread on each row.
