Charcoal briquettes (like for barbeque) and a nice sunbath. Then maybe a hit of Febreeze for extra appeal. Good luck.

Try putting a lot of baking soda inside and let it set while your gone to the quilt show.

But it smells like the last owner stored cigars in it. Any ideas on how to clear the smell out? It's mahogany and has a little piece of wood missing on a leg but is just darling. Would want to use it, though.
    Thanks in advance,

(May be a few days before I check back in, off to the Maine Quilt Show tomorrow, yippee)

Some of us might have to CARRY the little black dress, and actually WEAR a bigger one!
I went from a LITTLE black dress to a medium black dress when I started spending more time quilting.
Seamstresses know how to let out seams.
And the only time I actually give a RIP is when I quilt

Charcoal absorbs odors very well. You can buy activated charcoal on Amazon. Or, do as I did with my musty-smelling featherweight case. I bought a couple of charcoal-containing "Odor Eaters" shoe inserts and put one in the case.

I would try washing it with Murphy's Oil Soap, letting it dry and then trying one of the solutions listed here.
