Many many thanks to all of you for your wonderful suggestions. I'm pretty sure some kind of pinwheel will win the day. And yes, when the day comes that it's time to start that project, I'll post photos when it's done. Promise!

If you look in the background on the wall behind this woman in the Missouri quilt video, there is a quilt made with two triangles sewn together, then stack those squares to make a verticle strip and then put them together with sashing.
