I am self taught, of course I do all things the hard way, but lay the pieces out on a table or smooth surface and see what you end up with. Let us know how it goes.

If you look in the background on the wall behind this woman in the Missouri quilt video, there is a quilt made with two triangles sewn together, then stack those squares to make a verticle strip and then put them together with sashing.
