Dont forget to line your pocket using flannel as the backing,it makes for really toasty tootsies.

That's a great idea. When I tuck my lap quilt around my feet the quilt gets too small to pull it up.

I made a ton of them in the late 80's early 90's and my sister just asked me to make her another one as hers is starting to wear our on the foot pocket (what she calls it). That's my next project LOL. What's old is new again.

I made a bunch of "Snuggies" - you know those fleece blankets with sleeves? But, I sewed the lower edges together for about a foot at the bottom and across the hems horizontally, so the snuggie actually makes a "bag.

Everyone likes them better with the automatic "tuck in" for the feet. :)
I did the same thing for my daughter and granddaughter for Christmas gifts. The pattern called for it, but it was an optional feature. I thought it was a great idea and so did they.

    Hi,

I haven't ever added one to a quilt, but my husband uses his quillow all the time and puts his feet in the pocket on it. Basically the same idea, just on the quillow it's the pillow back.

    Good idea actually........thanks!

So glad I found this thread, thanks! I had seen a quilt with a pocket in the back several years ago (before I started quilting) and have been planning to find info on the idea. Now that I know more about it and have a name I googled quillow and found some tutorials too. Will be nice to have the bonus of a foot warmer plus storage for the quilt when its not in use, so clever!!! I'm making a gift and already created a fairly large quilt label that I'm going to machine embroider so now I'm debating, should I plan the quilt label on the center back on the quilt pocket, or leave it in the corner like I would normally. Anyone ever put their quilt label on the pocket?

It is not that cold here in Arizona, but my feet do get cold when I am just sitting. Great Idea

I think the foot pocket should be Minky! I love the feel of that stuff.

I used to make quillows also --my little yorkie loved to get inside the pillow pocket and sleep.

I always line the back of the pillow part with minky or fleece. It makes it perfect for cold feet and it is no heavier than a layer of batting.
