any one use the rubber tipped gloves to machine quilt?

Yes, I use them. They do get very warm in the summer but I couldn't FMQ without them :D

I have the Fons & Porter gloves, get upset when my children move them and I need them... tried the little fingercots, didn't work well. Also tried the set of red rubberized flex thimble-looking set (full set of 10 fingers, sold at JoAnn's), and I hated those darn tthings. The gloves work great, and if I start FMQ'ing without them, I know it within a few stitches!

The tighter fitting ones is what I have and they help tremendously.

I had a pair of Machingers, then found the Fons and Porters gloves. They are softer and not so hot....and less expensive.

I use them when I am quilting. My hands get so dry I can't get a good "grip" on the fabric without them.

I took a machine quilting class from Sue Nickels, and she recommended cutting the tips off rubber dishwashing gloves and just using the tips. They work great and your hands don't get hot.

I wear soft rubber tipped gardening gloves. When they start to wear or get a bit grubby they're consigned to the garden shed. Much cheaper then 'quilting' gloves.

I agree - my hands do not ache after using these for FMQ or even SID. They are worth the investment. Tho I might think that the inexpensive gardening gloves with the rubber tipped fingers would work also. The grippers just make it easier to handle the quilt.
