Any Other Jinny Beyer Addicts about
#1
I fell in love with Jinny Beyer designs and fabrics when I was given the kit and made her " Moonglow" quilt in 2000. I am at present working on her "Designing Tessellations" trying to improve my colour shading ability. Created my own basic pattern and using one of her border fabrics I managed to get the other fabrics from my stash, but I have yet to find out if it works ok.

I fell in love with Jinny Beyer creations back in the 80's when she came out with a book called Los Doces.. (I think that's spelled right). It's a book on making a wall hanging or lap quilt out of 8 pointed stars that are fussy cut like kaleidoscopes. I still have some of the striped fabrics that I bought back then. One piece is 8 yards..lol

I just love her wonderful colour shading, and so often when I go to buy fabrics I find I am attracted to her fabrics before I realize that they are her creation. This is the first time I have indulged in one of her border fabrics. I used her colour palette to help me find appropriate fabrics to go with it.

Jinny Beyer is my absolute favorite !!! I have fabrics of hers from the early 90's that I still love !! Can't say that about a lot of my stash :D
I took a class from her on soft edge piecing that was so much fun. And I also have the kit Moonglow- still not finished but I got it out the other day to finish. Her colors and designs are to die for!!!
Actually that Moonglow was a 6 month class I took at my LQS and somehow got behind on.............. :D

I checked out from the library Jinny's early (1980's?) collection of blocks and borders, with the acetate overlay in the back that makes it so easy to see how a block is put together. I had not heard of her before then, but she's now my best friend! I did my latest quilt by just choosing one of her great blocks, and the quilt came out great!
