Any tips for collage quilts?

ka9sdn, you can find inspiration anywhere....The horse was actually a sculpture made out of ceramic tiles that I once saw on the internet.
I've also done collages from stained glass windows.

Glassnquilts, thanks for the idea of taking a picture before completing! I love both of your pieces but especially interested in your seahorse. That is the pattern I have and have begun gathering fabrics for him. Really like all of the sea shells you used and the little sea creatures! Great work.

I made the owl from Laura Heine's work for my granddaughter and enjoyed doing it. It turned our nicely and she loves. I would like to do some more in the future. My quilt guild will have a workshop later this month based on the work of another collage artist. I am thinking about doing that one.

Lucky you...I’m sure it will be a fun retreat. I haven’t done a collage project yet, but it is on my 2018 list of trying something new to me. You’ll have to share your experience after your June class.
