Default Anybody have a Singer Nostagia?

I'm buying the Sphinx model as a backup to my Singer 9022.

It's brand new. The dealer is adding a motor and a light.

    It's beautiful.

Will it run as good as it looks?

The reproduction machines are not made as well as the vintage machines were. The parts are manufactured differently. The primary advantage of a repro machine is that it looks good. It may not run as well as a vintage machine, though.

Hmmm... I'm intrigued. Where are you buying this machine? Are there any photos of it online?

    From my repair shop/dealer

I've read mixed reviews but I saw someone in a youtube video sewing up a storm with the treadle version of this machine

Dealer has the box it came in and he's trying to find the wooden case for it

I might be a sucker but the thing is gorgeous

No pics of the one I'm buying online but if you google singer sphinx you should get a general idea what it looks like.

Hopefully it will work out. I have it on layaway so I'm committed...

I agree, that is a beautiful machine. Would love to have one, just no room. Good luck, hope it works out for you.

The original Singer Sphinx is a beauty as well as a work horse because it's metal the new one is probably plastic and although it is pretty I would get the real thing JMHO. You can't cancel the layaway?

    Nope. Layaways are non-refundable.

I think it will probably work out though.

I really trust my repair guy.

    He's extremely good.

Last time he fixed my machine it ran even better than when I first got it.

    Sews like a dream now
