I don't give quilts to my parents anymore...not since I went home and found the one I made for my mom in a wagon out in the rain. But I should have expected it. They don't care for any of their things.
    Nevertheless, it bothered me greatly.

Is it possible someone took the quilt outside and left it there without them knowing about it? If not, I would ask if I could take the quilt back home since they so obviously don't want it.

While Dad was in the hospital recovering from open heart surgery, I asked him if he wanted me to make him a quilt. He said "no, quilts are for old people." Dad is only going to be 84 in a few days.

I would never live long enough to make all the quilts etc. that everyone I know would love to have me make for them. LOL

"Quilt worthy" I like that. I will be using that term from now on if you don't mind. Well said!

I love to quilt but don't have very many for myself, my kids & grandkids & my close friends love them. Many items go to the Cancer Clinic.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with making things for your house. In fact, I think it's awesome and I think that's mostly what I have planned for the new year. I'm going to be making next years gifts then concentrate on making some for myself. Merry Christmas to me, love me, lol :)

I am a "mixed bag" quilter. There are many I have made for myself and will make for myself in the future because either they are a challenge or I just love the patterns/color combo. I also make quilts for friends and some family when the opportunity presents itself (some gone in for surgery/medical issues, the gal who does my hair and really appreciates the art of quilting, a new baby, etc) and I know the quilt will be well loved. I also make quilts for causes (Project Linus, Wounded Warriors, silent auctions for local zoo/museums, etc). I have stopped making quilts (or anything associated with quilting) for my Mom as she said she was "inundated" with quilts after I made her a lap quilt and a table runner. I also have a very good friend who will never receive a quilt from me as she always asks "when are you going to make a real quilt?" when I show her my works in progress (she thinks that quilts are supposed to look like the comforters from the box stores). It's funny how differently people react to quilts.
