Anyone else a "selfish" quilter?

I don't give quilts to my parents anymore...not since I went home and found the one I made for my mom in a wagon out in the rain. But I should have expected it. They don't care for any of their things.
Nevertheless, it bothered me greatly.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with making things for your house. In fact, I think it's awesome and I think that's mostly what I have planned for the new year. I'm going to be making next years gifts then concentrate on making some for myself. Merry Christmas to me, love me, lol :)

I am a "mixed bag" quilter. There are many I have made for myself and will make for myself in the future because either they are a challenge or I just love the patterns/color combo. I also make quilts for friends and some family when the opportunity presents itself (some gone in for surgery/medical issues, the gal who does my hair and really appreciates the art of quilting, a new baby, etc) and I know the quilt will be well loved. I also make quilts for causes (Project Linus, Wounded Warriors, silent auctions for local zoo/museums, etc). I have stopped making quilts (or anything associated with quilting) for my Mom as she said she was "inundated" with quilts after I made her a lap quilt and a table runner. I also have a very good friend who will never receive a quilt from me as she always asks "when are you going to make a real quilt?" when I show her my works in progress (she thinks that quilts are supposed to look like the comforters from the box stores). It's funny how differently people react to quilts.
