I love making rag quilts but 12 of them! I would tell those who have a sewing machine how to make their own rag quilts. They are easy and on the internet you can see how to do them on youtube! Do you get paid for these rag quits? If you are, then you have made your decision, but if it's out of your good heart then I wouldn't make that many!

Ihave only made 2 quilts that were the same and they were from kits. I got the first one done lickety split and the 2nd one took me 8 months to finish. I too prefer to make a different pattern/fabrics each time. I always have a different pattern and/or color combination I want to try so I can't make myself do a repeat.

I don't have to make them, but really like scrappy log cabins, so in a way I'm in a rut, but since I mostly do Linus quilts, it ok.

I rarely make the same thing twice. With each quilt I like to try something new, either a new pattern or new technique. I especially like making sampler quilts because each block is different. I don't make quilts for other people unless I have planned it as a gift for a special occasion. If someone else wants one then I will offer to teach them how to make it themselves. Variety and challenge are what make quilting fun for me.

I made an adorable Puppy rag quilt. It was a simplicity pattern and not difficult to do. After making one, yes I got lots of requests to do more. Since the quilt works up so quickly, i now make each baby two quilts, one of which is the puppy rag. I call the puppy quilt a "brat mat" since it is a wonderful size to place on the floor for baby to roll around on.

I hear you. I started getting tired of making the diamond and spiderweb scrappy quilts a while back. I started the 1st two for myself and then ended up giving them away so I started making 2 more. I was bored half way thru making the 2nd set. I try to never make 2 of the same as I have so many on my "To Do" list. I feel I'll never advance in my quilt making if I don't keep trying new patterns and techniques.

Sometimes, when I tackle a new pattern, I will make 2 or three just to say I have "mastered" that one. Other times, like with Atkinson's "Lucky Stars" I just really like the pattern and made a bunch of them. But then O got burned out on them and it was on to something else. That is the one good thing about ADD, I am rarely in a rut!
