I was just reading another topic about Ott Lights, but what I've been looking for is an affordable work light that can be mounted on the wall or ceiling, and can be repositioned wherever you need the light. Like the lights they use in the dentist office! Does anyone know of such a fixture that doesn't cost a fortune?

I just don't have floor space or table space to have a light fixture sitting anywhere.

I went to Home Depot or Lowe's (can't remember which) and purchased 3 shop lights with flourescent bulbs and mounted them over my cutting area, sewing area and ironing station. They provide plenty of light and were only about $20 each.

Like the others, not movable ... flourescent lights and be sure you get the daylight bulbs. They'll give you a clearer brighter light.

My basement sewing area is totally this, and as long as you have them close together you won't have to deal with shadows. I have them on three switches, so if I don't want it totally bright, I can turn some off.

I have an adjustable light with magnifying glass on it. It has am arm that moves. I got it at a thrift store but have seen them in magazines.

My DH installed a track light with three heads. Each can be directed individually. I have one toward cutting table, one to pressing area, and one over my machine. They are Halogen and give nice light.

I bought a *clamp* lamp at Walmart for $5. It has the bendable neck and it clamps to the headboard, sewing machine table, window seal or any edge up to an inch thick. I used it last week under my glass coffee table for a light box to trace with. I loved it so much I sent my DH to get me another one so I can keep the one in my sewing room there permantly.

DAYLIGHT spectrum bulbs! I put them in the shop light, floor lamps, end table lights. They're wonderful and show a truer color.
