Is anyone here going to Houston? If so, can you report to us?

I'm here!! Travel wasn't easy yesterday even from Georgia. I won't make it to the show until tomorrow. I'll report as soon as I can. I'm visiting my children and grands...good excuse, huh? Anything special you want me to take a look at or pictures of?

I've never been to a quilt show of any kind. The only time I've seen quilts on display is at the fair. Nothing in particular...just wondering what the ambiance is like--how does it feel? I read they are expecting 60,000 people there over the course of the time. Is it large (as in one large building, or a bunch of different ones, etc.

I'm not going, of course, but just wondered what it's like and how long it actually takes to go through it all.

"Going?" I'm in Houston now! Wooo, it is huge! We've seen about a quarter of the quilts in the show.

Would have love to have gone. Unfortunately can't go this year, but will plan ahead for next. We just got back from a cruise and were in Galveston last Sat. Should have had my dh drop me off and I could have just stayed. Right?? Wish I had the extra money but the cruise with friends and hubby was great. All you that are going please enjoy and post back. Beth

Some members of "my" guild are heading that way in the morning....I have tried for years to get there, but there's always something getting in the way, like life! Anyway, we're going and I'm thrilled to be in the group that's going. I'll naturally take my camera and see what's going on there that I "need" to be doing! I'm sure you'll have a number reporting in and, maybe I'll even add my "2 cents" in as well.
    Hugs

I'm going there tomorrow. Yes it's very big. I'm hoping to pick up Rapid Fire Hunter Star ruler, red snappers, and other gadgets that I love LOL. Maybe I'll find that log cabin ruler,I think Creative Grids makes it

Justflyingin, yes, it is all under one roof - the George R. Brown Convention Center. The Quilt show is the biggest convention held there annually, and the 2nd largest held in Houston, topped only by an oil & gas show held at Reliant Center. It is very large, taking up all six halls of the GRB.

My LQS is chartering a bus...going tonight! I went last year and it was amazing...the quilt displays, the vendors, fabrics...like walking into a candy store for quilting and sewing. The vendor area alone took me a whole day on my own to see, and I didn't even come close to stopping at each booth that I had planned. Comfortable walking shoes are a must for this event!
