I regularly use a deelybob mini for my spools of 1200 yards thread for piecing and love it!!! Then when I have the larger spools (like the size for serger cones) I will stick the big cone on top of the 1200, on top of the deelybob mini and never had a problem.

my son made me one out of a dollar tree paper towel holder
I saw this picture and took a wire coat hanger, bent it into this shape, or close enough to be functional, in just a few minutes. It works. Cost nothing.

I tried my friends but my machine didn't like it. I have had better luck by saving the smaller spools of thread and pushing them up inside of the cone. That way they sit on your spindle and feed the same way as a smaller spool. I save empty ones to use in my cones but also have used spoolls that still had thread on them. Just make sure that the small spool is firm and tight inside of the cone. Hope this works for you. Cuppi
