I use a chinese soup spoon. The bottom is flat the sides are curved. The handle is at just the right angle.

In a pinch I have use good old fashioned incandescent light bulbs. Be sure to dust them first.

I"m with Featherweight, i use a wallpaper seam roller too. well, one i bought expressly for fabric but the same thing. just more expensive.
