    Default Applique and Prairie Points

I am doing a dinosaur in the center of a baby quilt. If I want to add prairie points to his back instead of large rick rack how would I go about that? TIA

I would add them to the applique before you stitch the applique on the quilt. Then they can be stitched on at the same time as the applique. I think it will be really cute!!

I would make a strip of continuous prairie points and then just insert them behind the appliqué before stitching it down, similar to maryb119 mentioned. (there are youtube videos on how to make them)

Oddly, I was just telling my DN she could make large (stuffed) prairie point and insert them in the zipper seam for her son’s indominus rex Halloween costume.

Cute idea!!! I agree with everyone who stated to make it part of applique before sewing down. Please share a picture when done. That sounds adorable...

I’m with Teen, please post a photo so we can see how cute and creative your dinosaur will be.

I made a giraffe this way. I just made continuous prairie points and inserted them behind the applique before I sewed it. I glued them in place with Elmers school glue stick to hold the securely while I sewed. It is a baby qhilt and has been washed numerous times and is fine.

Here's what I found for you. You have to scroll up to get the beginning of the pattern called Tromp, Chomp, Stomp & it will show you how to make the points for the dinosaur. It's a really cute concept.
