Once upon a time I had a quilt pattern that I planned to make for my Aunt. After deciding that I would never get around to doing it the pattern found a new home. A cousin of mine decided that we, all the nieces and nephews, should make a quilt for this same Aunt. Now I need a pattern. Any direction for looking would be greatly appreciated. The only other thing that my Aunt likes to do is travel. So as an alternative a pattern that would represent traveling would be helpful. Thank y'all in advanced for helping!!

I don't know a pattern but I was at Hobby Lobby last week and they had travel type fabric. Maps, luggage tags, the old timey ones. I didn't look real close because it wasn't what I was looking for at the time.

You could always do a Trip Around the World quilt. You could use all different kinds of fabric representing different countries.

On the travel theme idea, you could get pictures from the internet of places she has traveled (or WANTS to travel), print them out on fabric and use these as some of your quilt blocks. Or perhaps she will even share some of her photos or post cards with you. It would be wonderful if you take personal pictures of each of you making the quilt - a real personal, one-of-a-kind memory quilt or wall hanging. You could use some of the traveling type fabric that was mentioned as connecting borders. Have fun!

Or what about a quilt with all the countries she has traveled to,
or even wants to, suggested by flags from these countries?

This could be a dramatic quilt that will generate memories for a long
    time for Auntie.

Previous posts had mentioned coloringbooks, you coul dfind a clown in a coloring book and use that as a template for the applique.

I like the around the world theme, though i would recommend appliques of various destinations, i.e. eiffel tower, wall of china, etc...

Last week, I saw a quilt entitled "Postcards From Hawaii"
How about a "Postcards From Everywhere" quilt? Lots of
4 x 6 inch pieces of fabric depicting lots of neat things from lots of neat places. Bet some of us here on the board could contribute some pieces of cool fabric...I can send a piece of Texas, if you want! PM me if you are interested!

If you want to go with the clown theme, here's a link to some free circus blocks
