I think those who love 'scrappy' might do so for two reasons: 1) We love fabrics so much that seeing so many different ones together is really exciting, and 2) We love to see everything used up efficiently, down to the last little scrap.

I like a planned quilt, but I love seeing all kinds of quilts.

I love the scrappy look, like leaves on the forest floor. The colors mingle together and are more beautiful than I could ever come up with. The Creator was free to let the leaves fall where they would and He dazzles me all the time. I make planned ones as well, but there is color variety always.

I prefer quilts where I can see an overall pattern - whether scrappy or not. Example - don't like Yellow Brick Road (there's no road LOL), but a scrappy log cabin is great.

That may be why I am drawn to the scrappy look. There are so many beautiful mass produced, comforters and bedspreads that are quilted, that I do not want mine to look " too much like the purchased ones". So scrappy for me.

I guess you just labeled me a NON QUILTER even though I have quilted since 2002!!! I do not like the look of scrappy!! I guess we really do have quilt police on this Board.   :-( :-(

    That was VERY insulting!!!

EVERYONE SHOULDHAVE THE RIGHT TO ENJOY MAKING AND LOVING WHATEVER STYLE OF QUILTING THEY ENJOY WITHOUT BEING JUDGED!!

I think it depends on the individual. I tend towards planned quilts. The only scrappy quilts I make are "planned" scrappy quilts.

Traditional quilts were made from scraps but were also in defined patterns for the most part.... that's what my quilts say to me!!! So both incorporated into one:)

I like both planned and unplanned. With scrappy quilts, I like to look for fabric that I have too. It's like a scavenger hunt and It's like looking for old friends.
