Hello, I'm new on the quilting board but I am at the same stage you are. My seam allowances are right on at 1/4" and I, too, am 3 to 4 inches off. So, I've decided to cut the four borders to 1/1/2" wide and the twist seems to be right on. I'm wondering if there was a type-o when pattern printed. You may wish to check your measurements before cutting. Shepherdessnnd

That is what I would do.
