Augh, if it doesn't rain....I can't quilt
#12
My DD swam with a team for a couple years, and there was a whole lot of waiting between the times she swam. I always had a hand project to work on -- applique, hand-piecing, hand-quilting, counted cross-stitch. I still carry a hand project of some sort with me to work on while I wait -- in the car, at the doctor's office, on the bus, etc. I just made a little fabric bowl with the English paper-piecing method using pentagons instead of hexagons. I just wanted to see if I'd like it enough to do a whole GFG quilt.
I'd be really careful about using an electric sewing machine where there's water on the ground.

I agree with all that has been said... small projects - hand sewing - and/or your machine outside - when our kids were small and needed constant supervision in our in ground pool... I sat my machine up on the porch table... we were all happy! :) I have been known to do cross stitch as the children played in the pool - yes, every day... and we live in S FL and homeschool - so there's not much ME time - BUT they are grown now and can be in the pool by themselves - 13 and 16 and I can just sit at the dining room table (AC!!) and sew now!! :)
