I have a Singer and the automatic needle threader just bugs me to no end!! It only works sometimes and it is in my way when I try to attach the walking foot. Can it be removed? Does anyone know? TIA

I have the Singer Quantum and the needle threader on it is the best I have ever used on any machine. The one on my Janome is frustrating and the one on my Brother, I don't even try to use it. They are removable because they can be replaced.

Thanks for the input. Maybe when my machine goes in for repairs in 2 weeks I will ask them to remove the darn thing.

I have a Pfaff, any my needle threader broke. I have been lost without it. Guess I need stronger glasses.

I would be a week threading without the automatic threader.

I wouldn't even be able to sew without my needle threader. I consider mine one of God's little gifts to us quilters.

On my Singers, I have to make sure that when I pull the thread end around the side of the needle, the thread goes underneath the little piece of metal that goes through the eye of the needle. If I do that, and wrap the thread around towards the back of the needle, it threads perfectly every time. It took me a while to figure out I wasn't always going underneath that metal piece, and it wouldn't thread properly :roll:

When I attach my walking foot, I put it in from the back, and it seems to fit in easier, and the threader does not get in the way.

I hated the needle threader on my Singer but I love the one on my Pfaff. Strange.

I sometimes use the twin needle on my Baby Lock Espire and the machine's needle threader does not work for the twin needles. There is a handy little gadget you can get from the sewing stores that will thread the needles. Not quite like a needle threader you use to thread hand needles, but you hook the thread into a slot and slide the thing down the groove of the needle till you feel it click and the sewing machine needle is threaded! I would have enough trouble threading one needle, but would never be able to thread twin needles. It really is easy to work and would work for your single needle as well as the twin needles. It cost about $4.00 and I just keep it with my machine tools. But, the single needle threader on my machines work really well. Although I have had a couple amchines that it did not work at all, even with many adjustments made by the dealer.
