Awesome idea. I am a thrift store junkie and I see many almost new bed skirts. I will check them out when I go on Wed. Thanks!!

At the thrift store, the high quality bedskirts often come with high quality tops also, and it is usually white fabric that can be used in your quilts.
The other types of tops are great for foundation piecing.
I love to use the poly tops that have the little holes in them as backing for the squares I cut from t-shirts when I do t-shirt quilts. I really don't like using fusible web stuff. The knit sews great to the poly and it is light and so easy to work with. It stabilizes the knit very well in my experience.

Nonsense! I'm 5'3 and have a high bed that I love. At the age of 77 I go to bed easily. All I have to do is take a few running steps and hurl myself onto the bed, making sure to roll like they taught me years ago in a Judo class. Since I sleep alone, this isn't a bad thing, except that my cats sit on top of the book case and watch till I'm safe in the bed before joining me.

Just joking, but I'll admit that it IS a kind of struggle to get all of me on the bed at the same time, but I love it so much that I'll even make myself one of those critter ladders before I'll give this one up.

I use them ALL THE TIME for pieced backings for charity quilts. I can pick them up used for about $3. Probably cheaper in the US.
