baby blanket question
#1
Recently someone posted a link for directions to make a baby blanket..top is cotton, backing out of minkee.
It was a simple one where you just turn it, no binding.
Anyhoo..
I thought they would be nice to make as donations for newborns..kinda like receiving blanket size?
What size do you think would be good, and maximizing fabric to avoid waste?
Would 36 x 44 be too big?
Thanks!
Kim

I go for 40x40 for a baby blanket. 36x44 would be fine. Remember, though, Minkee is ~60" wide. If you bought two yards of it, you could get three backs of 40", but the third would have to be pieced.

I do all sizes. 24" square or 24x30 make nice car seat covers. According to Quilt Your Heart Out Designs, a crib quilt should be 50x53. I do most crib sizes 44 x 54 (width of fabric x 1 1/2 yards). I've done floor quilts as big as 60" square. 60" is a nice size for cuddle time with mom/dad.
