    Default Baby Clothes Quilt

Hi - I made my first baby clothes quilt. I intended to do it like a T-shirt quilt (cutting squares/rectangles out of the heart of the fabric), but my friend said, "you can cut them a little if you need to." So, I knew she wanted them to be bigger to look more like clothes. It was very time-consuming for me. Question - it turned out to be a fairly thick top (48 x 58). What should I back it in? I was thinking Minky but have never used it, then I was thinking flannel, but would just regular quilting cotton be better since it's already a thick quilt?

    Thanks for your input!

Would love to see it! If it's already thick, maybe just back it with some quilting cotton or flannel. Audition them against the back of it and see what you think.

I would think the clothes would feel lumpy without some kind of cushion. Maybe just a fleece back?

I forgot to say that I plan to put Quilters Dream cotton batting between the top and bottom. Then, I think fleece might be too thick.

Do you know how she plans to use the quilt? If she just wants it for display, I would use quilting cotton. If she wants to use it as a snuggle quilt, I would use flannel. I really like minky for kids quilts and snuggle quilts and don't have problems quilting it on my domestic machine, but if the quilt seems heavy already, it my feel a little cumbersome if you haven't used it before. I'm sure you will decide on whatever works well for you and your friend.

Then I recommend regular quilters cotton for the back of the quilt. Can't wait to see it!
