A hat would be cute, or embroidering a little duck on his head. I am glad you found this out before you "gifted" this quilt, so you can fix it. Very creative, and well done quilt, lucky baby.

My thoughts exactly but a hat or a ball cap on him. Super cute quilt! I always wash my quilts begore gifting them for this reason - to fix little/ big mishaps before thequilt leaves me!

Sweet quilt. I'd take out the block with careful cutting and redo with different fabric-- then try appliqueing the block on the completed quilt. The hat or bonnet would be good solution, except that it appears the damage is more widespread --on duck's chest, etc. I've been meaning to try embroidery machine applique. Is this an unusual problem or does it happen often?

Your quilt is darling. If you cannot put a hat on the duck, can you just replace the block. I think the easiest would to add a hat, though.

Just had to add that I use fray check or similar product to finished designs all the time. There are directions on "emblibrary" on how to embroider on towels. That info might help someone else.
