I think she knows where her real (and permanent) home is.

There is a lot more information about fixing machines up now days. I hope you can figure out what makes the machine tick. Maybe you will really like it after all. Maybe it was some kind of user problem. My DGD had one she hated until I showed her that she had to make sure the thread take up lever had to be all the way at the top when she stopped and started. She also had to leave a good tail on the thread when it was through the needle. Some machines are pickier than others - no telling why. Maybe you will be able to find more info in a manual than before, too.

That's funny, I haven't had a Kenmore disappoint me yet. I know Miriam's had trouble with some of the stitch length selectors?

    Which model is it?

I've had them run in reverse, I've had the knobs not work - you name it - I seem to find derelict Kenmore machines or maybe they just find me thinking they will get a home...

I have all those problems with the Singers, but so far no Kenmores. Weird.

I would in a minute, if I hadn't dumped all my parts machines after stripping them. I needed the space, what can I say. Besides, the Singer that sewed in reverse was a Golden Touch and Throw, and only did it when you put a cam in it. I found that as the last thing I tested, of course, after a full service and a heck of a cleaning. It donated throat plate pins to a good cause, and cams accessories to another machine.

This is really funny to me. There is a "Free" table where I work and things come and go off of it. I would put old quilting magazines and fabric scraps and books there, knowing others in the plant also quilt and they might like this stuff. Good hearted people would drop this stuff off at my office table thinking I would like it. I now put a note on stuff that I donated to the table.

The machine story gives me a good chuckle!
    peace

I had a machine that I gave away TWICE to two different people in two different towns! It came back to me both times! I was SO THRILLED to get it back, I can never let her go again. She still sews like a dream and does great FM. I may not be so lucky again. I would embraced it!
