Default Backing for On Point Quilt Top

I've made a king size quilt, set on point that I plan to quilt as I go. I'm trying to decide if I can lay my backing fabric on the diagonal as the sections go to better utilize the backing fabric. Any suggestions? I'd really like to quilt this myself as it's for my son and future daughter-in-law. Thanks.

I would just cut normal squares to keep the straight of grain on the sides. Good Luck!
