Default bad experience with Dritz tempory basting spray.

When I went to spray baste my quilt the spray came out of the can like "silly string". AND it didn't make the fabric tacky. I'm rather glad that it didn't stick because it has taken me many times scrubbing with soap, water and a brush to get it off of my hands. Actually, my nail polish came off before this gunk. I suppose I did something wrong but I chose to throw the can away rather than try again.

Good to know. I really like 505.

How old was the can? Was it subjected to any temperature extremes? I use only 505 now too, and try not to keep a can longer than a year.

I use Dritz often ( use about 3 cans every three months) and have not had that experience. I think you got a can that was either exposed to heat or froze... or was really really old.
Check to see if there is contact info on the can or web site. I think they may be able to shed some light... and maybe a refund.

I had a little bit of spray left in a can of 505 and it came out not quite like silly string but definitely much, much thicker and just a couple of notches away from getting towards stringy. That can was an old can so my best guess is that your can of spray was old.
