I bought some bamboo cotton thinking it was a high-quality flannel as it felt much softer than flannel but with little or no "nap". I will make a baby receiving blanket with it but I was wondering what are its properties? Does it wash well? shrink much? pill? love this stuff and i found it at walmart!

I didn't see it at my smaller Walmart. I just bought a roll of Hobbs 80/20 batting.

mea12, I'm in need of some flannel. Will have to check this out. Please let us know what you discover about this fabric as you work with it.

bamboo acts much like rayon, depending on how it's treated during manufacturing it can shrink quite a bit, or not at all. It can also change texture if washed in hot water, again depending on the chemicals used in manufacturing. I always test a square, measuring before and after laundering.

Were there no care instructions on the end of the bolt?

I agree with Tom - it all depends on how it was manufactured. If you're unsure, best to wash a test square before proceeding.
