    Default Bargello Help

I am making a tree skirt. The quilt shop emailed me the instructions and it says # fabric 1-9, sew 1-9 then 2 through 1, 3 through 2 etc. Does it matter what fabric is 1? SHould it be the lighter to darker or vice versa? Also if the fabric is light as #1 do I have all the tans 1,2,3 then go to reds 3,4,5 then greens 6,7,8 or will it all blend no matter what fabric is #1?
I hate to send her questions, she was nice enough to give me the directions for free. It was a class she was offering and she is located in CA and I am in PA.
    TIA

I think you want to first number your fabrics in the gradient pattern you want to use - generally dark to light or sometimes you could do light-dark-light or dark-light-dark - but with 9 colors you are a little limited.

Do you have a picture of the completed skirt? My guess is that as long as you don't switch the numbers midstream, it won't matter where you start.

    Cheers, K

start by laying your fabrics out in an order that appeals to you- then number them- it is a personal choice if you go from light to dark- or the other way- or if you put the fabrics together in color groups. just lay them out in an order you like.
keep them in order though out.

Looks like it will be fun when it is done - in looking at the picture, I don't think you have to worry about which one you label #1 - as they will all take turns being in the first position.

    Cheers, K

Just as the others have mentioned, you need to give each fabric a number. I have done some of the more complicated Bargellos so this is a good habit to have. If any other question, please feel free to post them and will try our best to help you. I just LOVE the pattern !!!
