My county began a barn quilt committee last August. They operate through the local Extension Service. At this date, there are 53 quilt blocks hung and another 10 contracts signed. I have enjoyed them so much! My husband and I travel around the state taking pictures of them which I post on my Facebook page. We love them.

Sorry, but I don't have the time to read all the posts before I post a comment or question.

Our County Extension office has a committee that orders the special metal back and special paint out of Indianapolis. It's designed to last a long long time; and won't rot like wood will.
They charge for painting them; basically just the cost of the materials. So, a contract is necessary between the client and the committee to make sure the design is completed and the fee is paid.
