Barn quilts
I've made a few quilts and thought I would try my hand at barn quilting...... But I am having some troubles resizing the patterns to fit a 8x8 foot . Any ideas on a program that would help with this problem I am having????? Please

If you are thinking of painting an entire quilt.... I can't help. But, if you are planning on doing 1 block, just expand the size. Pick an 8" x 8" block and expand it to 1'. In other words, 1" equals 1'. That would work.
Most of the barn paintings I've seen are 1 block..... and traditional patterns.

Yes, nanna-up-north has the proportions correct. I would start out with an 8" block and then draw a grid of 1". Draw your grid-line on the surface you are going to paint using 1 foot grid-lines. Then draw you design on your painting surface referring to the 1" grid and make reference marks on your 1' painting surface. I did this quite often when painting scenery for the theater especial drops from designers sketches.

Good luck! I plan on painting one for our barn someday. My husband has heard me more than once point out barns that would look great with a barn quilt painted on them. Colorful quilt blocks and cool barns--it's a great thing!!
