when i spray baste a quilt, i use Dritz, temporay spray basting stuff, Its odorless and dosent gum up your needle.I get the dritz at joanns

Sharon Schamber has a great technique!
I never use pins on anything bigger than a crib size any more, and I haven't basted on the floor since I saw her video.
search for 'Sharon Schamber hand basting' video.
She uses 'rails' on a table top and if you use water soluable thread, you don't even have to take the basting out; just throw it in the wash! I use 8ft rails ( 96") you could use 10 ft for your big quilts.

You will love it. The basting is much faster than the regular basting. The board method of sandwiching your quilt makes it so easy, wrinkle free, and quick. No bending down, on huge table involved. I did a large lap quilt on my kitchen cabinet, no problem. I don't know why everyone is not doing it her way.

I use this method and just love it. I have not done a big quilt with method yet though.
